Yes, you can eat pizza
Ingredients: Chickpea flour, homemade tomato paste, olives, parma ham, red onions and buffalo mozzarella
So here’s The How!
The base for this pizza is a super easy one stop skillet flat bread made from chickpea flour and not much else! A popular street food known as Farinata in Italy and Socca in France.
The recipes vary slightly but I usually go equal parts water to chickpea...

Sugar passes easily into the blood, quickly releasing energy and raising the blood sugar level. The body responds as if under attack - by secreting more insulin from the pancreas and more cortisol from the adrenal glands - a classic fight or flight response. In time the body’s stress response mechanism wears out depressing your immune system and leaving...
When chickens get to live like chickens, they’ll taste like chickens, too.
– Michael Pollan, The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals
Good broth will resurrect the dead.
– South American proverb
The secret is in the broth
Why does every culture have a healing soup made of bone broth?
Why do we instinctively think of soup, specifically chicken soup, when we are run down and ill?
At work, we cook as much as possible with homemade bone broths - we use it for soups, stews, sauces and we cook our vegetables and quinoa, millet and buckwheat in it. Bone broth, aka stock, is one of the most delicious and nutrient dense...

Buy the best food you can
EAT THE BEST YOU CAN
Eat organic as much as possible and only eat organic meat and eggs (a label of “free range” without stating “organic” does not amount to much). Non-organic animals in factory farms are fed an unnatural diet of genetically modified soybeans and corn and heavily sprayed with pesticides. These animals are fed on antibiotics and hormones to speed up...

Proper muesli
We make our own muesli for the mere fact that we cannot find a brand out there that is not filled with fillers. Oats may be better for you than wheat, but it is still difficult for your body to digest and is always processed. Our muesli is free from oats or any other cheap bulking ingredients. We use pre-soaked, organic nuts, seeds and pseudo-cereals (such as buckwheat puffs and quinoa...

Keep this in mind
Knowledge is power – read labels on everything you buy to help you make the best choice of what goes in your body. There should be as few ingredients as possible and note that ingredients are listed in order of weight (highest to lowest). It’s not weird or obsessive to stand in a supermarket and read packaging - it’s a whole lot worse to blindly consume additives and genetically...
Do you know where your stomach is?
Your stomach
Where do you think your stomach is?
It’s probably higher than you’re thinking. And it’s smaller than you might think….really its just the size of 2 average fists together. And your stomach doesn’t have teeth so if you’re paying attention to what you eat, think about how much you’re eating and how you’re eating it.

Pink smoothie - Mother's day
Our mum makes her own smoothies every day, but even though they are mainly green, she adds other colours to make them pink…..red grapes and blood orange.
We were terrible with breaking glasses when we were growing up which meant the end of matching sets. We took to drinking out of jam jars, wine glasses and the odd pint glass.
Smoked salmon tart with almond flour pastry
The lightest pastry made with almond flour filled with smoked salmon, fresh dill and caramalised leeks. We like this with peppery watercress salad and when they’re in season, some blanched asparagus.
These tart bases freeze really well and they can be filled with savoury or sweet like apple and cinnamon.

Homemade fish fingers
From Sjaniel, mum to Jaden…
So mums & dads. We all know how difficult it can be to get our kids to eat the healthy version of anything, but with a bit of persistence and making it fun, it is certainly possible. My 4 year old now loves the idea of making his own ‘fish fingers’ and I just supply the right ingredients.
Method
We used hake for this batch, but you can...

Banana, cacao, almond smoothie
Commercially made smoothies and juices are pasteurised which means that all the goodness as well as the beneficial enzymes have been killed through high heating and you are left with nothing but a high-sugar liquid.
Homemade smoothies can be packed full of fresh vegetables and fruit and are so good, they taste like pudding!
Add: Golden flaxseeds (AKA linseed), maca, banana, cacao, raw almonds...
Garlic is a wonder.
Garlic is ANTI-bacterial, ANTI-fungal, ANTI-septic, ANTI-parasitic and ANTI-viral
Why eat liver
Liver from a wild or organically-raised animal is one of the most nutrient dense foods we can eat.
Liver (and other organs) are held sacred by many cultures and have been so for centuries. It was the lean muscle and flesh that we now so revere that was discarded as they lacked the goodness found in the organ meats.
Even half a century ago, most of our grandparents were buying liver for...

Sea salt
Most table salt is poisonous to our bodies. Highly processed, it leaches calcium and other minerals out of our bodies and makes us bloated!
Most people eat too much salt as processed foods are laden with it. Even pastries and sweet breakfast cereals.
In moderation, unrefined salts are good for us. Dried in the wind and sun, the enzymes are preserved as well as around 84 trace minerals and...
Steak sandwich on homemade flax bread
The most delicious sandwich money can buy!
We are requested to make variations of this sandwich every other day and as sandwiches were designed to be, it’s the perfect travel food.
The ‘bread’ is made of flaxseeds (AKA golden flax or linseeds) one of the most nutrient packed foods. The ‘spread’ is avocado mashed up with horseradish, sometimes we use wasabi paste...
It’s not what you eat, it’s what you can digest
What you will always find in our fridges
Every week we get an organic veg box delivery from a Devon farm and then top up our supplies from local organic shops and farmer’s markets later in the week. Aside from seasonal varieties, we almost always have something like the list below in our kitchens. Try ordering your fresh produce in - you’ll be more motivated to use the juicer first thing or cook a meal when you get home if...
Green smoothies
(we like to have roughly 3 portions of green veg to 1 portion of fruit (which adds the sweetness), but if you’re just starting, you might find such a ratio quite bitter so start with 2 portions of green veg to 2 portions of fruit and see how you like it)
for 2 large green smoothies (perfect for breakfast)
1 heaped teaspoon of 100% Organic Synergy Natural supergreens powder (spirulina,...
Start as you mean to go on
Make time to relax and sleep well.
Sleep is when you detoxify, repair and rejuvenate. Sleep is when your body utilizes the good things you did for it and get’s rid of all the bad things you did to it. There should be some balance between times when you are being productive and times when you are resting. Your health really does depend on your ability to get enough rest and sleep.

Fat doesn't make you fat
We eat a diet rich in good fats and so called ‘bad’ fats
There is a MYTH that all fat (especially saturated fat) is bad! The human body is designed to absorb and use saturated fats from animals - not chemically-altered versions from plant matter as is widely advertised commercially. Good cholesterol from organic animal fat is essential to human wellbeing. Every cell of...
