Most table salt is poisonous to our bodies. Highly processed, it leaches calcium and other minerals out of our bodies and makes us bloated!
Most people eat too much salt as processed foods are laden with it. Even pastries and sweet breakfast cereals.
In moderation, unrefined salts are good for us. Dried in the wind and sun, the enzymes are preserved as well as around 84 trace minerals and elements. We love salt and use both Celtic sea salt or Himalayan sea salt (naturally pink!) in all our cooking and baking.
Processed table salt lacks the most vital nutrients such as iodine - vital for hormone and thyroid function. Iodine deficiency is the leading cause for mental retardation in children. So why not then just eat ‘iodine-enriched’ table salt? Because iodine is only one of the minerals and elements found in natural salt and wouldn’t it be nice to have all 84?
